Grandmotherly Good Chocolate
Q: Are you really Mama Laura?
A: Yes and no. I am Laura and I am a mother, but the first Mama Laura was my great grandmother, Mama Laura Sanderson. I just thought the name was catchy. Plus, she was a really good cook.
Q: Have you always wanted to be a chocolatier?
A: Not really. I am the accidental chocolatier. I started giving toffee as Christmas gifts and people started ordering it. I soon found out I was on to something.
Q: I'm looking for a fancy, infused ganache--do you offer those?
A: As Mama would say, "Dance with the one who brought you". My company got to this point with simple recipes; down home cooking. I stick to my original concept--if my great-grandmother wouldn't have made it, neither do I.
Q: Are there any test-tasting positions available?
A: Sorry, those positions are held by my two daughters and my husband. In the event they get tired of my goodies, I'll post a notice.
Q: I just have to have some toffee, but I don't live in North Carolina. Do you ship?
A: We are happy to ship anywhere within the continental U.S. From May to September we ship using our warm weather packaging (ice gel packs and insulated containers).
Q: I'm on a diet. Are your candies low cal?
A: Well, no, but if you’re worried about burning off those calories, Mama could always use an extra set of hands in her kitchen.
